World Championship in Denmark. Two magnificent sevens
Magnificent seven I
Surely there were seven of them but for several days it was not a real Seven.
Here are a provincial Kasper with his sister Basya, her daughter Miki and Russianized in our country Italian Lukasik; and here are (to the right) Polechka and sophisticated Kary and Brandon. Yes, for a pair of days they were not a magnificent seven...
Allow me to introduce them all.
Our future is represented by twins Cary and Brandon.
Lovely children, tomorrow they are 8 months old.
Be healthy, children!
Kary. Dreams, fantasies, reveries – quite a young lady
Brandon is cheerful, everything is fine, life is beautiful!
Our friend Lukasik. Surely he is an Italian and a blond, but also is a sportsman,
a swimmer and a hunter – in other words one of us.
Mikimoto alias Mixi alias Mixture from spleen. Recently very shy, but nowadays… you can see yourself...
Polechka. If you can’t count there are six mats under her.
Pillows also belong to her. Enviable!
Although Basya is a great champion she never shuns dirty work. Always is ready to be on duty in the kitchen.
...when he wasn’t busy with his victories on the ring
Magnificent seven II
Volodya is our wheelman and reserve trainer!
Ira is a reserve navigator, trainer and a beauty (in some respect she is the Face of Russia in our Seven II)
Ira is thinking about another pair of boys that’s why she has to train
Sasha. Navigator, handler and cook. In reconnaissance you’ll be safe with him
Ira. There do exist such small women who manage to overcome chaos and to hold oceans within the shores.
If you remember there were two Sevens!
Ira and Sasha, we are happy that you were with us!
Lena. A reserve handler and a person who can have a short respite when everyone is healthy.
After a sea walk the dogs suffered a severe diarrhea (I beg your pardon).
But I was not nervous at all.
It was later that I realized that I wasn’t nervous. Thank you, Lena!
Besides Lena has led Basya into the ring of The World Championship. And again I was quite serene.
I am so grateful to her!
Olya. They simply love each other. So I don’t know what to add...
Ira – our wonderful handler number 1. Ira! Thank you!
Your reporter, Basya and Mikimoto. I am very grateful to the unknown author for this picture
We reached Denmark without problems.
It’s not far up to Helsinki, on the ferryboat to Rostock we had a rest and reached our cottage either too late at night or early in the morning – the opinions differed.
Ferry is a very large ship – you can board it in your car
Such a large ship!
Basya,Mikimoto and Lukasik were traveling by boat for the first time in their life, but accommodated themselves to it very quickly
I know, it’s a private business, but people often ask how do dogs relieve nature, so to say, on the ferry. And now everyone will understand it!
In the cabin
So we reached Denmark either very late at night or early in the morning, took the key from under the mat at the door (Danes always leave their keys under the mats) and went to sleep.
And when we woke up we went to the sea!
It was a real happiness!
The sky, waves, finest silvery sand and vastness!
Well, after I get some experience I’ll cut off all nasty things and will edit only beautiful ones
Next day Goldens were getting ready for the World Championship
Sun-baths and relaxation alternated with active training and individual sparrings
We were also busy – handler’s costume is always very important
And there were 3 exhibitions – World Championship itself was held in the enormous exhibition hall on the bright red carpet with artificial lightning; and two retrievers’ championships – in the field – bright green grass and natural light.
Handlers were trying on their costumes, Goldens – their leashes for ring.
We reached consensus with open voting: one tail – one voice
And how will you decide? Don’t forget there were three exhibitions
Almost simultaneously our mobile grooming-salon started it’s activities.
We were very enthusiastic and decided to “clip all of them”.
Basically Goldens’ clipping in Denmark doesn’t differ from this process in Russia although there are much more less mosquitoes.
Lukasik. It’s clear that he has trained diligently
Then every Golden was meticulously washed, dried with hairdryer and styled.
How much time has it taken according to your estimation?
Multiply it to seven!
We lived at the distance of some 80 kilometers from Herning where the World Championship was held.
The exhibition began at 9.30 a.m. and we should be there at least an hour beforehand.
We had to park cars (sometimes it was not easy), find our ring, bring the necessities and dogs, put cages and arrange everything in order.
It’s important not to be in a hurry, not to be nervous and edgy because Goldens feel it immediately.
We already had the exhibition numbers. For the first time in my life. They were sent to me by e-mail.
Usually the numbers came to Russia by ordinary mail 2-3 weeks after the exhibition had taken place.
In such a case you should find the manager, wait for your turn in a queue and explain that it’s not your fault and the guilty part is the post. Then you should very-very politely parry distrustful amazement because in Europe post-offices work excellently feeling yourself unhappy and miserable. Then you had to wait when you are found in the computers and your numbers are recovered. And then back to your ring while the distance can be quite considerable.
Surely in the morning we had to walk the dogs out.
Then at least three minutes in the shower, changing into “official” dress
(besides some ones have to “refresh” their faces – let’s sympathize them, pals!), drinking a cup of coffee, trying not to forget anything and not to brawl but be helpful.
The evening before championship studying the performance numbers we noticed a peculiarity.
Champions’ class naturally was the last.
That’s why Basya’s number should be larger than Micki’s one who was nominated in working class. But it appeared to be much more smaller.
With the help of deduction we came to the unpleasant conclusion that the champions would be the first ones together with puppies.
Basya and Kasper were our champions, and they would open the exhibition. It meant that we needed a second handler.
I pay my respect to Russian women!
Lena’s countenance changed just a little, she braced herself and went not to bed but to train Basya.
24 June 2010
We are going to the World Championship!
I was greatly impressed by the roads, cleanness and neatness of Denmark
24 июня 2010
It was beautiful!
Huge exhibition area, wonderful organization, very convenient parking area, cleanness and order!
Deduction hadn’t failed us – champions’ rings began together with puppies’ ones.
Ira Voitenkova flitted with Kasper to the ring of male dogs-champions like a butterfly, and I heard the astonished whisper: "Prima!".
Sasha and Ira Kirpil with Kary and Brandon were on the puppies’ ring.
Lena with Basya entered the bitch-champions’ ring. There were 15 of them.
Pay attention to the size of the ring!
Bitch-champions’ ring. 15 dogs. Marianne Holm-Hansen, Denmark is the expert
Ira managed to be in time for Basya’sindividual expertise. I just can’t understand how she managed to be everywhere in time switching her attention from dog to dog, how she managed to run for long distances (the size of the rings allowed to show the dogs’ movement) smiling and looking fresh.
Descriptions at the World Championship were not given. Basya received "excellent".
It’s a pity that she is absolutely naked
Working class. Disposition. There were 17 dogs in the ring, Mikimoto became the fourth one
And these are Cary and Brandon feeling nervous before performance at the World Championship.
What do you think – are they really nervous?
The best bitch FINGERPRINT'S ISOLA TIBERINA and the best reserve bitch.
I do not agree with expert’s choice...
Best of Breed - ASHBURY CONAN DOYLE.
Comprehensive results of Goldens’ World Championship you can see here
Tears, kisses and champagne – everything was as it has to be!
We came home late in the evening very happy but very tired and hungry.
We were eager to celebrate – to share experience, study the pictures, drink champagne and have a rest
...but we had to feed the dogs and bring them for a good walk.
Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow are the Retrievers’ Championships
25 June 2010
Retrievers’ Championship
At 5.30 a.m. everything began from the beginning (vide supra).
We knew that both championships would be held in open air that’s why we attentively studied the sky. Everyone remembers what a fun it was at “White Nights” competition!
But the day before Volodya and Ira bought a tent – goods and chattels increased in volume but the degree of nervousness is definitely decreased.
Further on I can express myself only with the help of exclamation marks.
The World Championship was wonderfully organized. But there we could not help feeling the tension and here the sun was shining, the grass was green and the retrievers were in abundance.
I have never seen such a field – it was an absolutely smooth lawn of enormous size with a tender short cut grass.
Basya feels herself very comfortable before the ring
You could receive free tents from organizing committee which made a shelter from sun and rain..
On top of that you could switch on a hairdryer there.
The tents were allowed to put only along the perimeter of the field and not around the rings. Let me repeat - everyone remembers what a fun it was at “White Nights” competition!
In other words nobody fell down being caught by strings and ropes and everyone could freely move around the rings, sit and lie down on the grass, take pictures, sing and dance
I inserted this picture not because Kasper is hardly seen here, I just wanted to show the size of an ordinary ring
And this is the main ring for the final competitions. All rings do not go into my camera.
So I’ll begin from the end
Final competition. Ch.Ritzilyn Rick O'Shay - BOB, ВIS-2!
Final puppies’ competition. Brandon (Ambergold GK Fabulous Friend) - Best puppy, BIS-3!
Gorgeous flats won the kennels’ competition
If I’m right it’s a Champions’ ВIS; we have no such nomination. The winner is Crossover de Ria Vela
It was a pity with kennels’ competition. Somehow I decided that we were not included so we didn’t come. But we were included in the list of participants
Ch.Ritzilyn Rick O'Shay - BOB!
Ch. Dutch Consolidation Who's Next - BOS!
Puppies and male dogs were judged by Mr.Henric Fryckstrand, Sweden, and he did it artistically.
Agree that Ira has covered a number of kilometers these days
Dogs champions. Romario is the second, Kasper is the sixth
Bitches. Champion class, placement
Bitches. Open class. Distribution. There were 37 bitches in the open class
It was a marvelous day!
Obviously you think that you know how we spent our evening.
But I am not sure of that.
At first – just as you imagined: "hungry", "dreaming of sleep", "champagne, pictures...", but besides we had to pack and to put all our goods in the cars.
The next day we had in full speed to catch a ferryboat.
Besides some of the dogs should be styled. Do you remember grass, wallowing and happiness?..
As a result some dogs became green. Surely not entirely but with green streaks.
And Mikimoto that day received a mark "Very good" with the following description:
" Very nice female with a very beautiful head and expression.
Well balanced angulation in front and rear.
Fine proportions. Well legs and paws. Beautiful coat of a good quality.
When moving she is rounding over the loins - that's why the judgement'.
Ira Voitenkova explained to the expert that the dog’s hair just had raised up. And the expert answered (Ira won’t allow me to lie) that she understood it. But it’s a show and people standing outside the ring and having no opportunity to feel the dog’s spine might think otherwise.
Now all of you can imagine this evening and the following morning.
Beautiful detail. I called to the owner of the cottage and asked how I can pass to him money for cleaning and electricity. The answer was marvellous:
"Put money into microwave stove". "And what about the key?" - "Under the mat".
